When it comes to microdosing, the set of benefits that people reap seems to be somewhat similar. However, if there is anything that we have learned about microdosing psychedelics is it that this practice is more complex than many individuals are led to believe. Really, it does make sense considering that taking a larger dose of a psychedelic substance would in fact result in a totally unique experience that cannot be replicated. Therefore, it only makes sense that taking small doses has a unique side to it, as well.
In this article, I will be refreshing your memory on some very common benefits of microdosing before going over a handful of benefits that aren’t as talked about.
What is microdosing?
I always like to include a section stating what microdosing actually is. In short, microdosing is the act of consuming a tiny amount of a psychedelic substance. If done correctly, the dose is so small that it should not offer psychoactive effects strong enough to result in any intoxication. The ‘goal’ is to be able to take a microdose and not only function throughout your day, but function even better than usual. If you take a dose that is too big, it will work against this motive. Using a trusted microdosing company ensures that you can get the correct dose every time.
Microdosing can be done using a lot of different substances. However, it is most typically done using Psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and Lysergamides (LSD). The very broad motive of this entire practice is to enhance your life by improving brain function. When we can successfully enhance our brain’s performance, this effect leaks out into the rest of our lives and allows us to reach a higher potential than usual. Your full potential is always there waiting for you and there is nothing wrong with wanting a little extra boost here and there to access your full potential. Whether that be via microdosing, jogging or meditating. It is important to introduce mindful practices into your life to reach new personal heights.
Common benefits
To make things simple, here is a short list of some very common benefits of this practice. Please note that not everyone experiences the same set of benefits. Additionally, the list below is not proven as there are few microdosing studies at this point in time. However, we can say that the benefits below may occur:
-
Improve cognitive function and brain health
-
Increase focus & concentration
-
Promote neuroplasticity in the brain
-
Minimize general brain fog
-
Reduce stress & ease anxiety
-
Enhance performance & productivity
-
Encourage motivation and inspiration

TIP: If you take Lions Mane Mushroom alongside your microdoses, it could improve the rate at which your brain absorbs and processes the compound you’re using. Paul Stamets, a world-renowned mycologist and psychedelic enthusiast, lives by this method and includes it as a vital step in his Stamets Stacking protocol.
Unique benefits of microdosing
I believe that most people who microdose probably could reap the benefits below to some extent, however, they may not notice as much considering the subtle nature of the microdosing experience. The list above is full of extremely common advantages that our clients have shared with us over the years. However, we have also received several reports of interesting benefits that are not included in the list above.
Here are 5 ‘uncommon’ benefits that you could reap from microdosing.
1) Speech improvements
Surprisingly enough, some of our clients have said that their speech has improved. Individuals that had trouble with stuttering or fumbling with their words in the past have noticed that they can express themselves verbally with more ease. Speech can become more smooth and more fluid. We also believe that this effect may be behind why so many individuals find that microdosing assists them during social situations (see below), where they would usually struggle much more. When you microdose, it can encourage you to think and act more authentically. Expression is much more than just movement, mannerisms and facial expressions. We use our voices and words to express ourselves to a great extent. Sadly, many individuals have speech complications, creating obstacles when it comes to naturally express themselves through conversation. If this is you, then microdosing may help.
2) Fitness and athleticism advantages
Four very common benefits of this practice are increased motivation, energy, focus and performance. Reaping these benefits, especially collectively, could have incredible effects on one’s fitness goals. If you love the gym, are into yoga or train for some sort of sport, then microdosing will probably be a super effective tool! Additionally, microdosing is like fuel for the brain. We consider our microdosing products to be ‘‘brain supplements’’. When you are training for a sport, your brain’s health is crucial for your performance and advancement. Adding a powerful boost to your brain via a microdose could help you heighten your focus and therefore improve your movements more precisely and sharpen motor skills/coordination. This practice is also fantastic for improving mental health due to its de-stressing effects, which can have a positive effect on your performance. Add a few ‘dose days’ a week into your fitness routine and thank me later!
3) Healthier decisions
I find this one super interesting… So many of our clients and many of my fellow microdosing peers have said that this practice helps them make healthier choices more naturally and automatically. For example, one thing we hear a lot is what we refer to as ‘the salad effect’ in our office. We have had countless microdosers tell us that on dose days, or during dosing periods, they find themselves going for healthier food options. Many microdosers say that they will naturally lean toward eating a salad instead of something more unhealthy. Microdosing seems to have this effect on people and results in them automatically going for what is best vs what is typically desired. Funny enough, the healthier option may seem more desirable during a dosing period!
4) Social and relationship skills
When we can tune into our inner and outer world better, our personal relationships can build and strengthen. Relationships are a two-way street. To truly bond and connect with another individual on a deeper level, you will need to be able to tap into their thoughts, feelings and words, etc. This practice allows us to be fully present in the moment and react to the moment with more grace. Many of us struggle with social anxiety, lack of ability to express ourselves properly and other things that can get in the way of having an in-depth and impactful interaction. Through microdosing comes more awareness and through more awareness comes better listening and feeling. If you struggle to connect to others or actively participate in social settings, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. You are human and you are going to have struggles here and there. However, it is paramount that you take the necessary steps needed to develop the skills required to feel comfortable, open and interactive in social settings. We all deserve to feel at peace with ourselves, during times of solitude and at social gatherings. Microdosing may help you get to where you wish to be.
5) Expanded external and internal awareness
It is believed that microdosing encourages neuroplasticity in the brain. This is essentially the brain’s neural networks’ ability to change through growth and reorganisation. Neuroplasticity is when the brain is rewired to function in a way that differs from how it previously functioned. Psychedelic researchers believe that using psychedelics in both small and larger doses can increase neuroplasticity in the brain. This could be the reason why individuals feel much more creative when they are microdsoing. It can give you a ‘think outside the box’ effect, which can be a huge advantage to everyday thinking. This practice can not only help you see a fresh perspective but can also make you think about the way that you think. Thinking about the way that you think could be described as mindfulness, which is often defined as the state of being consciously aware of something. When was the last time you thought about the way that you think?
Final thoughts
Microdosing looks different for everyone. That is what we love about this practice. As time goes on and we learn more by communicating with our clients and staying up-to-date on recent studies, we are learning more and more about the complexity of this practice. The benefits go much deeper than the list of common benefits because the common benefits lead to an exciting array of other more specific benefits. For example, one common benefit is an increase in well-being. As you can imagine, improving your mental health will undoubtedly improve so many other areas of your life!
This practice is about self-discovery, self-acceptance and self-improvement.
As always, happy dosing!
