First time microdosing? Here is what you need to know

Welcome, curious minds! If you’re here, then you must have heard about microdosing, the practice of taking very small amounts of psychedelic substances to achieve therapeutic or cognitive effects. Perhaps you’re seeking an alternative to traditional treatments for mental health conditions, or maybe you’re interested in exploring the potential benefits of these substances for personal growth and/or creativity. Whatever your reasons may be, we’re here to guide you through your first microdosing experience. In this blog, we’ll cover the basics of microdosing, what you can expect, and some tips for getting started. I’ve been microdosing for many years and I specialize in helping new dosers find their groove. Let’s dive in!

Why Do People Microdose?

Before getting much further, if you are new to the World of microdosing, one of your first questions may be ‘‘Why Do People Microdose?’’. While the practice of microdosing is still relatively new, there is already a growing body of anecdotal evidence that suggests it can offer a wide range of benefits. Here are just a few reasons why people might choose to try microdosing and may continue to microdose:

1. Increased focus and productivity: Nearly all microdosers report that microdosing helps them focus better on tasks, enhances their creativity and boosts their energy levels without making them feel jittery or anxious. This practice is well-known for its brain-boosting abilities due to its positive effects on cognitive function in the brain, which has a positive impact on productivity.

2. Mood enhancement: Microdosing can also help to improve mood, and reduce anxiety, depression, and other negative feelings, which can be especially beneficial for those dealing with mental health conditions. In the beginning, you may notice your doses make a high difference in boosting your mood! After a handful of months, it can work as an effective mood stabilizer, which can help you feel more naturally balanced on days when you do and do not take a microdose.

3. Personal growth and reflection: Many people use microdosing as a tool for personal growth and reflection, helping them gain new insights into themselves and the world around them. Psychedelic in large doses can completely flip your views on yourself and the world around you. Yet, even in micro-doses, many users notice an immediate flood of fresh perspectives. Microdosing can help you see yourself and the World around you through a clearer lens.

4. Spiritual exploration: While microdosing is not necessarily a spiritual practice, some people have reported feeling a greater sense of connection to themselves, others, and the universe when microdosing. If you are a spiritual person in particular, I can pretty much guarantee you will fall in love with microdosing and all it has to offer you and your spiritual journey.

Of course, it’s important to keep in mind that everyone’s experience with microdosing is different and research is still ongoing to fully understand this practice. However, if you’re interested in trying microdosing yourself, it’s worth exploring the many possible benefits that others have reported.

Who is microdosing best suited for?

The thing is, microdosing is essentially suitable for any healthy adult that is ready for self-improvement and wishes to reach new levels of performance. It can be suitable for people from all walks of life. From uni-students to stay-at-home mums, to nomads, to business minds, to creators and inventors! The benefits of this practice can make a huge impact on all kinds of lifestyles.

There have been some studies on microdosing and its effects on depression, anxiety and PTSD. While it works well in healthy individuals, it may also have a place in the life of those who are mentally unwell. However, it is a tricky topic to discuss due to the lack of clinical studies. We can only hope that with more time, we can conduct more studies on how it affects those suffering from mental health complications and, moving forward, learn how to apply this practice more accurately and effectively to those in need of assistance.

How much do I take and how often?

Individuals typically use magic mushrooms/truffles (psilocybin), LSD or other suitable Lysergamides. We’ll use magic truffles and LSD as our examples.

When it comes to microdosing with LSD or magic truffles, it’s important to find the right balance between frequency and dosage. In general, it’s recommended to microdose no more than two to three times a week, with at least one day in between each microdose. This gives your body and mind time to rest and recover before the next dose. At Microdose Journey, we always suggest our customers start small and work their way up. We also suggest following a 1 day on, 2 days off schedule. It is very important not to microdose too often. With many substances, we grow a physical tolerance and psychedelics are no exception. If you dose every day, you won’t get as much out of your dose and eventually, it will do nothing. Follow the 1 day-on, two days-off schedule for the best results!

As for dosage, when microdosing with LSD or other comparable Lysergamdies, a typical range is between 5-10mcg per dose. With magic truffles, a common starting point is 00.50g. However, it’s crucial to note that everyone’s tolerance and sensitivity levels are different, so finding the right dose for you may require some experimentation.

Final tips and thoughts

The reason why we called our company ‘Microdose Journey’ is that we are strong believers that microdosing is not linear. Instead, it is a path that you walk that is unique to you. We believe that psychedelics, in all doses, is a unique experience. You may start microdosing and follow a schedule for a whole year, stop for one year and then re-continue after that break. Your doses are there when you need a little extra boost, a little helping hand, and a little tool to unlock your full potential.

I can advise using a microdosing journal, in the beginning, to track progress, reflect on dose days and notice patterns that you wouldn’t notice else wise. Steer clear of stimulants, like coffee, on dose days. Many individuals say that over-stimulation can be an issue, but removing other stimulants from your day can rid of that issue. Matcha seems to be a suitable substitute to have on dose days.

Just start slow, pay attention to what your mind/body is telling you and act accordingly. Keep doing your research and stay up to date on any upcoming microdosing studies. We have a ton of information on our website for you to browse if you would like to learn more about this fast-growing practice.

Lastly, make sure to never feel like you cannot reach out and ask for help. We have a whole community of microdosers who are in the same boat. We are just 1 email away!
